FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO Grande Alternator problem Hi guys basically my mums 56 plate grande is just eating up alternators.. Its had 3 fitted in the past 18 months and looking like its going to need another It makes sort of a high pitch whirring noise at all times the car runs perfectly fine otherwise.

Re: Alternator swap, how? First thing you need is a code reader and then go from there. Alternators hardly ever fail on Stilos and the power steering failure is nearly always linked to supposed alternator failure (it's still safe to assume insufficient power is being supplied to power steering though - which at least is a clue).

Remove the front section of the exhaust,remove the aux belt,remove the dipstick tube completely,2 small bolts top and bottom+ 2 plastic clips. Access for the alternator is underneath,between the driveshaft and the bulk head.Undo 2 wires from rear of alternator, undo wiring clip/harness that is at the rear of the alternator,1 small bolt, push it

Hi,got a problem with either one or the other or both !! car starts ok,all warning lights go out,drive 100 yds stop at junction steering goes heavy and alternator light comes on,when i move off steering lightens but light stays on.not experienced this before,any help would be greatfully U4Erin. 659 124 949 794 620 170 870 218
