Alright I think I have found a way around both the Mirkwood and Nordinbad (just before Carn Dum) glitches. For Mirkwood do NOT save the captive elf. And for Nordinbad only play single player through the siege and the direct aftermath before heading to Carn Dum. Research msconfig in Windows explorer and use 4 or less core, and reboot pc (with my i7 8700 with 12 cores activte = 130% CPU usage, and with 4 cores activate = 60% to 90% CPU usage). That didn´t help. I used the debugging tool of the task manager in combination with Visual Studio now and it turns out there is some part in the game that throws Install it, restart windows and open up steam, to go settings, and find the 'Voice' tab. Click on ' Change Device ' as shown below. Right click on the Line 1 Virtual Audio Cable, Set as default communication device as shown below. Well now your done, go ahead and launch The Lord of the Rings: War in the North and play the game as it's meant to

The mithril is in the Mount Gundabad level. Towards the beginning of the level the path will split for a short distance only to converge again. If you take the upper path on your right you'll find a small cave. Using Farin you'll find a breakable wall. The mithril is inside a chest on the other side of this wall.
